Transitioning students from School to the Community

The Arc's transition services provides a coordinated set of activities in conjunction with the Bradford County School System which promotes movement from school to post-school activities. These activities includes vocational training, integrated employment (including supported employment), adult services, and community participation.

The intent of the program is to provide for a seamless transition from school to work and into the community. High School Juniors and Seniors receive vocational and other types of training at Sunshine Industries, either on a full-time or part time basis and receive high school credits for successful completion of course work.

A School Training Specialist works half-time for the Bradford County School System and half-time for The Arc in developing plans and making arrangements with support systems, funding agencies and potential employers for a minimum of three years prior to the individual completing his or her high school graduation requirements.
