At Sunshine Industries, we work with people so they may become more aware of their potential and assist them in realizing their own dreams of the future. A wide range of services are available within each service area that allows for individuals to develop their own unique program which will facilitate personal success.
For most of the individuals we serve, vocational training opportunities are available through work experiences in our Packaging Department and Woodshop. Through subcontract arrangements with local industries, the Packaging Department offers paid work for assembly, sorting and packaging. In the Woodshop, individuals manufacture survey stakes and pallets.
In addition to vocational training, a variety of other activities are offered including community outings, computer training, adult basic education classes, rights/self-determination classes, Kiwanis AKtion Club and in-house recreational activities such as arts and crafts, puzzles, games, dances, and parties. Future plans include providing more opportunities for individuals to receive services of their choice in natural community settings.
The Arc also provides adult day training through their off-site work program at Camp Blanding Military Base. Individuals who participate in this program learn janitorial and maintenance skills. This program has been highly successful and in operation for over ten years.
